News and Announcements (June 28, 2009)

Update: July 3: Music for Pontifical Mass on July 12

Update: July 2: July Mailout

Solemn Pontifical Mass with confirmations – 11.00am Sunday 12th July at St Aloysius’: all members of the community are encouraged to attend this Mass (to be celebrated by His Lordship Bishop Peter Elliott), and to support the confirmation candidates by their prayers. We will have brunch in the school hall after Mass: please bring a plate.  We need volunteers please to assist with the set up & running of brunch, and clean up afterwards. Please email or call this week if you can offer your assistance.

The Year for Priests: we invite members of the community to attend Mass on Thursdays during the Year for Priests to pray for the sanctification of priests, the good formation of candidates to the priesthood, and an increase in priestly vocations. Every Thursday during exposition of the Blessed Sacrament after Mass, we will pray the Litany of Christ the Priest for these intentions. On the first Thursday of the month attending Mass and remaining for these devotions will carry a Plenary Indulgence throughout the Year for the Priest. A list of special Indulgences for the year is on the back of this bulletin.

We continue to need more servers and sacristans. Please be generous in offering yourself to God’s service in this way. All those boys who have made their First Holy Communion are eligible to serve, and we encourage all parents to have their sons trained in the service of the Altar. Very often, the call to the priesthood is first heard in the youthful service of the Altar.

First Friday falls this week. There will be a 7.00pm Mass as usual, during which confession will be available. Benediction and Compline will be celebrated following the Mass.

Please note that in addition to the 11.00am Low Mass this Monday (Solemnity of Sts Peter & Paul), there will be a 6.30pm Low Mass. Also, on Thursday of this week, Mass will be at 7.00am only (no 11.00am).

The Schola Spiritus Sancti welcomes new members: please contact the Schola Director, Nick Dinopoulos, for details: . Nick will also be available after 11.00am Mass today to receive any inquiries or expressions of interest.

About Us updated

Census online. It is possible to complete our new census on line. Census forms completed by hand may be mailed to us, or placed in either collection. Copies of the census form are available at the back of the Church. The census includes a section on support for the apostolate and participation in the life of the community, as a way of implementing Archbishop Hart's encouragement of these in his letter to the community which was posted out at Christmas. For those who may already have provided census details, the support & participation survey can be filled out separately.
